Hello and Welcome to planDisney, Neal.
I absolutely love staying at
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. In fact, my family and I stay there over Christmas each year. You are going to have an absolutely wonderful time. But you're right! This resort is massive and you will need to
rent a golf cart to get around. You actually can't do this online so you aren't missing anything on your MyDisneyExperience account, Neal. You are going to have to call the recreation department at (407) 824-2742. Phone lines open up at 7:00 a.m. Mickey Mouse's time. The earlier you call, the less time you'll have to wait on hold so I recommend setting that alarm early and getting it done one morning. Depending on the time of year, golf cart rentals can be quite popular and are on a first-come, first-serve basis so it's better to call as soon as possible to reserve yours. Right now, rentals are running about $63.00 a day plus tax. You can pick your golf cart up starting at 1:00 p.m. and you'll need to return it by 11:00 a.m. on your check-out date. To drive the golf cart at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground all drivers will need to be at least 16 years of age and have valid identification.
Once you've gotten your golf cart, I hope one night you'll drive up to The Settlement for dinner at
P & J's Southern Takeout. I can't recommend this place enough for the food and value. My family and I like to get the 8-piece fried chicken dinner and full slab of finger-lickin' barbecue ribs. This meal is served with four sides including macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, baked beans, slaw or french fries and a full loaf of cornbread. Best of all this meal rings up right around $45.00. We've comfortably fed 4 adults and 1 teenager on this meal with food leftover. It's great!
I hope you have so much fun at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. If you have any other questions before your trip, please feel free to stop back by and
ask me. I'm here to help!
