We have a reservation for Donald's Safari Breakfast at 9:15. We were told that it was a 45 minute walk to the restaurant, so we would have to start at 8:30-- but the park doesn't open until 9:00. What is the procedure for this?

Lions, and tigers, and bears, oh, my!

Even at a relaxed pace, the walk is no longer than 15 minutes from the Animal Kingdom entrance to Harambe, Africa where the Tusker House is located. We’ve made this walk many times first thing in the morning to reach the Kilimanjaro Safaris (which is even further than the Tusker House). Despite having to travel to Africa, your journey will not be too long.

If you are traveling in the off-season, arrive the gate 20 minutes prior (at least 30 minutes in the busy season) to the official opening time. When the park opens at 9 a.m., enter the park and proceed towards Africa.

You may be able to enter via the Character Dining entrance a few minutes earlier. There will be one turnstile clearly marked and you will need your confirmation number to enter prior to the park opening. Since you are usually instructed to be at a restaurant podium 10-15 prior to your Advance Dining Reservation time, the Cast Member may let you get a head start on your walk.

Bear left through The Oasis and cross the bridge to Discovery Island. You’ll pass the Pizzafari restaurant on your left. Keep heading straight towards Africa. Once you go over the second bridge, you’ll quickly find the Tusker House on your left.
