Can I make a reservation for character dining without having tickets to any of the parks?

    Hi there, Katie!

Welcome to planDisney where it's never too early to begin planning your next visit to Walt Disney World Resort!

I'm so glad you asked about character dining outside of the parks, Katie, because I feel that all too often people overlook the magic that lies beyond Walt Disney World Resort's four theme parks. From water parks and golf courses (traditional and miniature) to shopping, dining, and entertainment offerings at Disney Springs and Disney's BoardWalk, and of course, incredibly-themed Disney Resorts Collection hotels, The Most Magical Place on Earth does indeed offer plenty of places to make magical memories - with or without a theme park ticket!

Character dining experiences are a great way to ensure that Mouseketeers of all ages will be able to say 'hello' to some of their favorite characters. While my favorite, Garden Grill Restaurant in EPCOT featuring Chip, Dale, Pluto, and Farmer Mickey in overalls, is only available for Guests with a ticket to the theme park, I'm delighted to share that character dining at the following locations is available to everyone.
While these locations do not require a theme park ticket, reservations are highly recommended and can be made 60 days in advance through both the Walt Disney World website and the My Disney Experience app. My pal Lauren helpfully explained the booking process for a Guest here. It's also important to keep in mind that some of the locations above only offer character dining during breakfast hours, so you'll want to verify the timing of specific offerings before making your reservations. You can easily do this on each restaurant's page on the Walt Disney World website.

Pixie Dust from the Panel: If you decide to dine at 'Ohana, Chef Mickey's, or 1900 Park Fare, I encourage you to allow some time for a ride along the Resort Monorail Loop. Even if you don't disembark to explore the Disney Resort hotels it connects, you'll be able to enjoy incredible views of Seven Seas Lagoon, Magic Kingdom Park, and the Grand Canyon Concourse of Disney's Contemporary Resort during your travels.

I hope this was helpful, Katie, and that you're enjoying a magical meal so very soon! If you're in need of additional assistance as you finalize your plans, feel free to stop back by. I'm always happy to help!

    Thinking Happy Thoughts,
    Lizzie
