Hi there, Katherine! Thanks so much for bringing your question to us here at planDisney!
I know as Guests return to the magic, there are still some questions about the theme park reservation system, and it sounds like you have a good handle on the ins and outs! To answer your question, there is a possibility that after you cancel your reservation, the new date may not be available, BUT the calendar is always changing! Reservations can be made up to 120 days in advance in the hopes that this gives Guests lots of flexibility in their planning, which means that they are also constantly modifying their plans. Reservations can, and often do, open up! I would continue to check the
theme park reservation calendar, especially as you get closer to your date and even the night before. While I know this may not be ideal, I'm sending some magic and wishes your way that it will all work out!
Another tip to keep in mind while you are planning is that
dining reservations will open up 60 days out from the calendar date. These can go quickly for the more popular spots, so I recommend booking on the earlier side knowing that you always have the option to cancel up until 24 hours ahead. A few of my recent favorites are
Carnation Cafe right on Main Street, U.S.A. (one of Walt's personal favorites!),
GCH Craftsman Bar at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa (the pool views make this an extra relaxing spot!), and
Carthay Circle Lounge - Al Fresco Dining (the best spot on Buena Vista Street for character spotting and a light, but delicious menu).
Katherine, I sure hope you find your way to the Happiest Place on Earth! Be sure to take a few minutes throughout the day to slow down and just enjoy the sights and sounds. Let that magic settle in around you. If you have any more questions, we are always here for you at
planDisney.
Keep wishing on those stars!
Tara
