Hi there, Martha!
It looks like tomorrow is set to be a magical day as you head to the Disneyland Resort!
Blue Bayou is one of my favorite dining locations on property. It's hard to beat stepping out of the hustle and bustle of New Orleans Square and onto the cool, quiet patio where it's always twilight, watching your fellow Guests sail away on their pirate adventure as you dine on Louisiana-inspired dishes. There is truly magic in the air!
As you might expect, it's a popular spot considering all it has to offer, and dining reservations can be limited, especially as you get closer to your park day. That being said, let's see what kind of pixie dust we can stir up! First and foremost, you'll want to
check dining availability on the Disneyland website or in the
mobile app. Reservations open up to 60 days ahead of time. In both cases, simply search for "Blue Bayou" - on the website, you can enter it in the search bar in the top right-hand corner, or on the app, tap the magnifying glass in the bottom navigation bar before typing it in. On the website, you will see a button to "Check Available Days," while on the app, you will tap the menu icon that says "Reserve Dining". Next, you'll select your party size, followed by your preferred dates. Here, you can select multiple days at one time. Once you hit "next", any available times will be revealed to you. In my quick search just now, it does seem that reservations are not currently available for tomorrow, but don't lose faith, trust, and pixie dust quite yet!
First, I would continue to check dining availability. Guests are always making and canceling reservations, especially in the 24 hours leading up to them as their plans become solidified. Blue Bayou has a 2-hour cancellation policy, which means that Guests can cancel up to 2 hours ahead of their reservation time, so anytime between today and tomorrow is a good time to continue checking.
Once you enter the park, you can also check the "
Join Walk-Up List," a special feature on the mobile app that allows you to make same-day reservations at some highly coveted restaurants, if they are available. You have to be physically close to the restaurant for that option to appear, but in the same way we searched for reservations originally, next to the "Reserve Dining" option, you will see a button to "Join Walk-Up List." I highly recommend checking here a few times once you have entered the park.
Finally, if you haven't been able to secure a reservation but have your heart set on dining under the stars, I would head to the restaurant about ten minutes before it opens, which is generally at 11:00 AM daily. While there is no guarantee, it never hurts to ask the host if they happen to have any openings that day. My planDisney pals and I did this a few years ago and were able to secure a table for an early lunch, and it made for some magical memories!
Martha, I sure hope this is helpful and we've set you up for success tomorrow! If you have any more questions, we are always happy to help a fellow Guest find their way to the magic here at
planDisney.
See ya real soon!
Tara
