I have a reservation at the Bay Lake Tower as a first-time DVC Member, and I am currently planning the trip by looking for events on the 4th of July. What are some recommendations, and how can I get them?

    Hey Luis,

Welcome home! And welcome back to planDisney!

Thank you for visiting us with another of your questions. It is great to help fellow Disney Vacation Club Members plan the perfect trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth! I see that you are staying at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort for your very first stay as a Disney Vacation Club Member! I remember our first time visiting as Members. It has changed how we vacation at Walt Disney World in a lot of ways. It has helped us to slow down and enjoy time relaxing as a family, because we always know we will be back, real soon!

Okay, so let's talk Independence Day! Walt Disney World has yet to announce schedules for the 4th of July, so let's take a look at what has happened in previous years. It is usual for there to be fireworks to celebrate, including Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert at Magic Kingdom, in previous years, this has been a spectacular display, performed on the 3rd and 4th of July. Bay Lake Tower could be a great vantage point for the show; however, if availability allows, I think it would be perfect to watch it as part of a speciality Fireworks Cruise, we did this to celebrate our wedding last year. The fireworks looked even better from the water! You can also expect additional show elements at EPCOT's nighttime spectacular, Lumionous: The Symphony of Us. Last year, this was shown on the 4th of July only.

Luis, I have linked a Disney Parks Blog article that highlights 11 ways Walt Disney World celebrated the occasion last year to give you a bit more of an idea of what you can expect. Keep an eye on this blog for updates about this year's celebration to help you firm up plans for your vacation. Please note, entertainment offerings can change each year.

While you are here, I can't not tell you about the new McKim’s Mile House. This new member lounge has recently opened at Magic Kingdom Park! It is the perfect place for members eligible for membership extras to rest their feet and grab a drink right in the heart of Frontierland! It never gets old to take a break in a Disney Park and enjoy a complimentary drink (or two!)

I hope this helps answer your question, Luis. If you have any further questions about your membership or vacation planning, please reach out to me. I'd love to help!

    Have a magical day!
