I have a reservation for Animal Kingdom Lodge and have the following question- I opted for Disney Plus and ordered us magic bands - do these options include the 'fast' pass to pre-book rides?

Hey Howdy Hey Stacy and welcome to planDisney!

Thank you so much for your question about pre-booking rides as this process has recently changed and can be a little confusing to navigate. It is a little different than the former "Fastpass" system, so let's review the lingo and then talk about the specifics.

The new system to allow Guests to reserve their spots in lines with shorter wait times, like the former Fastpasses used to, is now called Lightning Lane reservations. You can access these with the purchase of Genie+ which you can add at the time of purchase for your tickets or anytime after. If you did repurchase Genie+, you are halfway there!

Since you are staying onsite at a Disney Resort Collection hotel, you can book your Lightning Lane reservations starting at 7:00 a.m. EST on the morning of your park reservation. You can book these reservations one at a time every two hours or after you redeem your reservation in the parks. Disney has put together a list of attractions for Lightning Lane reservations in each of the parks that you can make reservations for and is super helpful.

Now there are some really popular rides, like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Hollywood Studios, that are not on the Genie+ list. These attractions require an Individual Lightning Lane purchase and you are selecting specific time frames to redeem these selections. Disney also has the most up-to-date information on which attractions in each park qualify for Individual Lightning Lane purchases as well.

To check on the status of your tickets to make sure you have Genie+, you will need to log onto your My Disney Experience account. Once logged on, go to the "My Plans, Reservations and Tickets" section and look for the heading "Tickets & Memory Maker". Click on the "Tickets & Memory Maker" heading and you should see all of your tickets and the members of your party they are linked to. It should also say if you have Genie+ added to your tickets. If not, you will select the "Change Ticket" link on the bottom of your ticket and then walk through the steps to add Genie+ for each ticket. All of this information will be linked to your MagicBands and your My Disney experience app as well.

I hope this has helped to clear up the lingo and the process of booking your Genie+ selections. If you do have any further questions about your upcoming trip, feel free to reach out and we will be happy to help!

    Happy planning,

    Nick
