My reserv. day is 7 days away. My? is with the DDP I would like to take advantage of as many sit down meals as possible. But will this drive us crazy trying to plan around them? We plan on counter meals for every lunch. What should we do about breakfast+ dinn

    Hi Vicki!

It sounds like you've got the right idea! I think the best way to get the most out of the dining plan is to use your table service credit for dinner and your counter service credit for lunch. For breakfast I would suggest either using your snack credits for items like pastries or stocking up on quick breakfast foods like donuts, muffins and even cereal and milk for your resort room. If you decide you'd like to have a counter or table service breakfast I would recommend paying out of pocket for those and breakfast tends to be the most inexpensive meal of the day.

I can understand your concern with booking your table service meals. No one wants to spend valuable time traveling to get to your meals and then back to the parks. The best solution I have found for this is to decide which park(s) you will be at on each day first thing. Once you know where you'll be spending your time try to choose restaurants located in that park or at one of the resorts closest to that park.

For example, I try to avoid scheduling a dinner at the Animal Kingdom Lodge when I know we'll be spending the day at the Magic Kingdom. Instead I'll either choose a meal in the Magic Kingdom or at one of the surrounding resorts like the Polynesian or Grand Floridian.

If you still don't think you want to schedule one sit down meal a day then maybe the basic dining plan isn't right for you. You could consider the quick service dining plan which offers each person in your party two counter service credits and two snack credits a day. Each person also receives a refillable mug which is good for unlimited refills at your resort for the duration of your stay.

I hope this helps! Have a wonderful vacation!
