Hi moms! researching my trip through you all has become a hobbie (actually borderline addiction:) I think it makes me feel closer to my upcoming vaca! Wondering if anyone had experience driving from Germantown MD to Disney, and any tips for a smooth ride.

Hi Janette! Thanks for the compliment on the Walt Disney World Moms Panel. All of us enjoy helping guests plan their magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation. I have driven down from Columbia, Maryland which isn't far from Germantown. Sometimes, in the past, I would drive down in one day, leaving very early in the morning and arriving very late. As I have gotten older, I have come to the realization that doing such is not a great idea, at least not for me. I would arrive at Walt Disney World tired, and I would be tired the next day and sometimes even for a couple of days. Now I always plan to spend two days on the road for the trip down; sometimes I'll still do the return trip in one very long day. To pass the time on the long trip, we would listen to Disney music or podcasts. We would have the children watch classic Disney movies. It kept everybody excited on the way down; the trip back to Maryland was always difficult however, and I never came up with any really good ideas. By the way, there is the Amtrack Auto Train from Washington, DC. I have never done it myself, but I know people who have and they loved it. That is another option. You can just travel one way on it, so that is another option to get you and your car to and/or from Walt Disney World. I hope this helps! Write back with more questions! It is nice answering a question from my home state!
