    Hi Ikeyla,

I've always found early May to be a good time to visit Walt Disney World with low to medium crowds and moderate temperatures. It's true that this when many of us locals get in weekend trips before the summer crowds arrive. It is also true that you may see bands, choirs and other groups taking end-of-the-school-year trips to the parks.

But I think you will find the crowd level quite manageable.

I double-checked my memory with the unofficial site, which monitors crowd levels. During the first week in May in 2013, as I expected, it lists the crowd at 5 on a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being the most crowded) for the weekend, dropping to 2 or 3 on weekdays.

The site is predicting a similar pattern for May 4-9, 2014. (By comparison, the crowds between Christmas and New Year's consistently rank as a 10 on the TouringPlans scale and summer weeks often are ranked around 8.)

So please don't stress! You and your daughter should be able to enjoy the rides and attractions with minimal inconvenience, especially if you use My Disney Experience to reserve FastPass+ ride and attraction reservations. I also strongly suggest making dining reservations as soon as possible if you have particular character meals or other restaurants you want to try.

When you make your reservations, make sure to note that it is your daughter's birthday. That sometimes leads to magical surprises. And be sure to get her a free birthday button at the resort hotel or at Guest Relations at any of the parks. It's great fun to have cast members and other guests offer their birthday wishes.

I hope that helps. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions for you as you make your plans. My daughters have celebrated many birthdays at Walt Disney World, and it's always a wonderful time.

Enjoy this special visit with your daughter!
