I am so happy that you were able to make the change to your reservation, and it sounds like you will be that much closer to the
Walt Disney World Resort "magic" a little sooner! I call that a win!
Yes, if your new theme park reservation dates did not overlap with the old dates, they would be canceled. For example, if your original dates included January 14 and you were scheduled for (say) EPCOT that day. Then you cancel, and your new dates are from January 8 to the 14th. Your EPCOT theme park reservation would remain, while the other dates would cancel. So, in this case, if neither of your new dates overlaps with your old dates, the reservations would automatically cancel.
The good news is that, pending availability, you can reschedule all of your reservations using the
Disney Park Pass Reservation System.
