Is it now required to have your photo taken upon entry to Disneyland? Or is it possible to opt out of the facial recognition at the entrance gates?

    Hiya, Sophie!

Welcome back to planDisney. Thanks for the opportunity to offer more insights to help as you prepare to experience The Happiest Place on Earth!

Once a Disneyland Resort Theme Park ticket is used by a Guest, that ticket becomes non-transferable. At the time of ticket activation, a Cast Member uses a device to capture a photo of the Guest using that ticket. If the ticket has the Park Hopper option or is valid for multiple days, or if the ticket holder should simply wish to take a midday break at their Disneyland Resort Hotel and return to the parks later, Cast Members at the park entrances use the photo to confirm that the same Guest is using the ticket upon re-entry.

In my recent visits to the Disneyland Resort, automatic facial recognition does not appear to have been employed at park entrances. Technologies employed at the Theme Parks may be enhanced to provide the best possible experience for Guests and Cast Members. Some of my planDisney pals have reported passing through newer gates that may include technology such as facial recognition. Although Cast Members were still using the existing devices to support manual Guest identification even in recent days. Nevertheless, operational procedures may be subject to change.

I appreciate your desire to maintain your privacy. Naturally, I need to share some information to get the best possible experience tailored to my family’s needs. But as a regular Guest of the Disneyland Resort, I feel confident that my privacy is reasonably respected. You may find additional information in the Disneyland Resort eTicket Terms & Conditions as well as the Disneyland website terms and conditions. If there are any specific terms you would like to learn more about, I recommend reaching out to a Guest Relations Cast Member.

Of course, you are more than welcome to visit us again here at planDisney as well. Our panel of Disney Parks enthusiasts and Guests is eager to answer questions about dining, entertainment, hotel resorts, or other aspects of your visit to the Disneyland Resort.

We hope you have a most magical time, Sophie!
