Hello there, Stuart!
Thanks for stopping by planDisney. I recently returned from a stay at the
Grand Californian, and I have to say it stole my heart! It was incredible, from the stunning lobby to the cozy rooms to the dining options. I absolutely loved taking a midday break, grabbing a coffee, and relaxing by the fire, and you can't beat the proximity to both Disneyland and California Adventure. You are going to love staying in the magic!
When it comes to specific requests regarding your reservation, especially this close to your visit, I recommend calling the hotel directly and speaking with a Cast Member. You can reach the front desk by calling (714) 635-2300. One thing to note is that when you made your reservtaion, you likely selected a
specific view - Standard, Woods-Courtyard, Partial, Downtown Disney, or Pool view. Changing your request may move you into a different room category and may impact your room rate; just something to consider. There are several configurations even standard rooms when it comes to beds and layout, from 2 Queen Beds and 1 Twin Sleeper Chair or 1 King Bed and 1 Day Bed, and more. Typically, the hotel will take into consideration the number of people on the reservation and their ages before assigning a room type, but if you have requests, these can be logged with the front desk. Requests are not guaranteed, but they will try to do their best to accommodate. It never hurts to also mention it when you arrive for check-in, in case any adjustments can be made at that time.
Additionally, when you are within five days of arrival, you will be able to check in on the Disneyland App to activate
Direct-to-Room Service if you'd like to skip the front desk. Your room number and digital key will appear as soon as your room is ready. You can even turn on notifications to receive a text when you can make your way to your room. Within online check-in, you can, at times, put in various requests. You will see this option as part of the process. I will say that I do usually follow up with a call directly to the hotel as well.
Now, as a Guest of a Disneyland Resort Hotel, there is so much magic at your fingertips! Be sure to grab a list of the
resort activities for your stay. There are typically outdoor movie nights, live music, and during this time of year, Santa himself will greet Guests in the lobby. The
Grand Californian Great Hall Cart is a must-do in my book for a late afternoon snack - it's typically filled to the brim with limited-time seasonal treats and sweets. I was able to get a coveted Mickey Gingerbread Cookie here last year!
Stuart, I hope we've set you up for a memorable visit to the Happiest Place on Earth! With the
holiday festivities kicking off this week, be sure to take a look through the
Entertainment Schedule to earmark any must-see parades and nighttime spectaculars. If you have any more questions, we are always here for you at
planDisney!
Magic awaits!
