Ahoy, Charlene!
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! It sounds like you're planning an unforgettable cruise aboard Disney Cruise Line! The accessible staterooms are so spacious! If you or someone you're traveling with need a little more space to maneuver within the stateroom due to being in a wheelchair or need the
added features that come with an accessible stateroom, I suggest booking one! Having an accessible stateroom makes cruising with my son in his wheelchair so easy!
There are two ways you can reserve an accessible stateroom. The first is right from Disney Cruise Line's website! Under the "Cruises & Destinations" tab, go to "Find a Cruise". Click on the drop-down arrow in the tab that says, "Travel Party". There, you will see a box where you can select "accessible room". This will give you the available accessible staterooms for the itinerary you've selected! The other way to request an accessible stateroom is by calling the agents at Disney Cruise Line at (800) 951-3532. Over the phone, they will be able to tell you which accessible rooms are available for the specific Disney Cruise you're interested in booking. I also suggest being close to a computer when you call so you can pull up the virtual deck plan of each ship and locate the available staterooms the agent tells you about over the phone!
When you check the box on the Disney Cruise Line website indicating you need an accessible room, a message pops up stating that you
may be required to show written confirmation that you need an accessible room. We've never been asked to provide written confirmation for needing a wheelchair accessible room for my son, but you will need to click the "I Understand" box before proceeding.
Charlene, I hope you'll visit us again with any future questions as you plan your cruise with Captain Mickey!
