We will be renting a wheelchair for my wife every day. We have character breakfasts scheduled each day-at 8:00--is it posible to obtain the chair before the park opens? I am a little worried about being able to walk to the castle for CRT and Tusker House

    Hi there, Rick!

The Walt Disney World Parks and Resort does offer a variety of wheelchairs and electric convenience vehicles (ECVs) for rent on a daily basis.

Renting opens when the Park opens, and not before, generally 9:00 AM, to give the greatest number of people a fair chance at renting these first-come, first-served items.

You might also consider using a third-party rental service, one that provides long-term rentals for your entire vacation. These services typically deliver the vehicle at the beginning of your trip and pick it up upon your departure. My fellow Panelist Kara has this to say about rentals:

"Scooters (or ECVs) can be reserved ahead of time through local rental companies. While I have not rented one, The Complete Walt Disney World 2011 travel guide recommends the following companies:  Apria Health Care (apria.com), Care Medical Equipment (caremedicalequipment.com), Turner Drugs (turnerdrug.com), and Walker Mobility (walkermobility.com)."

All of these companies, while unaffiliated directly with Disney, do maintain good working relationships with Cast Members and Guests, and have excellent reliability ratings. You are sure to find the vehicle that's best for your bride.

    Have a wonderful trip!

    See you later, celebrator,
    -Deborah B.
