Is renting a golf cart necessary at the Fort Wilderness Cabins? This will be our first time staying there. Have 2 kids, 8 & 6. Very concern about coming home late at night. They might be ok during the day...but not sure at night

I don't know that I'd say it's necessary, Vanessa, but it's definitely helpful.  I wouldn't be as concerned with the walk to and from the bus stop; that shouldn't be bad.  The bigger concern--in my opinion--is getting around the resort to take part in on-site recreational opportunities.  It can be quite a haul to get to the pool, for instance.  Travel to the trading post, playground, and marina can also be a challenge.  We found that our golf cart made transportation within the resort a breeze (and fun, too!).  You always could rely on the bus to get you where you're headed, but the golf cart is much more convenient.  On the other hand, if you're not intending to spend a ton of time exploring the Fort Wilderness grounds, then you might do just fine walking to and from the bus stop for your park touring days.  If you decide a golf cart is a good idea, you might call some local companies about golf cart rental; it's more economical than renting from Disney.  Good luck!
