Aloha Laurel! Thank you for visiting planDisney and trusting us with your important Disney vacation planning questions.
I’m so glad to hear you’re staying at Disney’s Polynesian Resort and exploring the new
Island Tower. What a fantastic choice. I’ve had the pleasure of staying at the original longhouses before, and though I haven’t yet experienced the Island Tower firsthand, I did stroll over from the Grand Floridian on my last visit to take a peek. Let me just say that the view of the theme park from the Island Tower is now officially on my bucket list.
Disney’s Polynesian Resort sets the tone from the moment you arrive. The lush tropical landscaping, warm ambient lighting, and touches of Polynesian artistry give the place a welcoming vibe. The dining options, ranging from casual favorites to more celebrated table-service experiences, really create an unforgettable environment. And being steps away from the monorail and boats means you’re perfectly placed for easy access to all the parks!
Rooms throughout any Deluxe
Disney Resorts Collection location, including the Island Tower, are generally designed with mobility needs in mind. While I haven’t stayed in the Tower’s one-bedroom myself, I have stayed in studio rooms at other Deluxe locations, sometimes with strollers or even a pop-and-play in the mix. Even then, we rarely ran into issues fitting them, because the entryways tend to be thoughtfully laid out. It seems as though you can park immediately upon entering, and it just works.
In your case, being in a one-bedroom should offer even more flexibility than a studio. With five people and both pull-outs in use, you still have room to maneuver. If the entryway doesn’t quite give you the clearance you hoped for, there's always the option to shift some things around inside, within reason, of course, to make a little more breathing room. On one visit to the Grand Floridian, I actually nudged the coffee table aside and used it for snack storage, freeing up space elsewhere. Simple room tweaks like that often do the trick.
From what I’ve read and experienced in other Deluxe rooms, the outlets are plentiful and positioned conveniently, so charging your ECV overnight should be hassle-free, too!
I hope this puts your mind at ease, Laurel. While you’re soaking up everything the Polynesian has to offer, be sure to visit
Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto and
Wailulu Bar & Grill. Pro Tip: pop your name in at Trader Sam’s about an hour before you’d like to visit. It’s very popular, and waitlists can get lengthy quickly.
Mahalo!
