Renting a car from the airport to also visit family but would still like to have checked luggage taken by Magical Express to POP. Can this be done? Also, would it be easier to drive to dinner @ Big River Grille and Raglan from POP? Visiting in 2 weeks!

Disney's Magical Express can not be reserved for luggage only transfers.

If you are visiting family after checking into your hotel, it is possible to rent a car on-site. We like renting from National at the WDW Dolphin. This would allow you to take the Magical Express motor coach along with the luggage transfer, then rent the car once you are settled.

When we've rented a car from the airport, we reserve through National. We retrieve our luggage and head directly to National's Emerald aisle. From there, we are on the road to WDW allowing for a stop at a grocery store for bottled water, etc. We recommend National because of the quick check in/out service via the Emerald aisle option and the plentiful discount codes that allow us to save transportation costs.

I would highly recommend driving to your first dinner destination. Parking at the Boardwalk for Big River Grille is plentiful but allow for a lengthy walk from the parking lot. I'll admit to having my husband drop my son and I near the Boardwalk before parking the car.

When heading to Downtown Disney for Raglan Road, it's just as easy to take the bus from Pop Century as it is to drive. I would use the bus if it is a busy evening, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Parking spaces are often difficult to find at Downtown Disney and the bus goes directly from Pop Century to Downtown Disney.
