Hi Beth! Thanks for taking the time to stop by planDisney!
You're going to be heading to
Walt Disney World Resort before you know it and it's a great idea to work through all the "ins and outs" of getting from one place to another before you actually arrive. This way, you won't have to worry about it once all you can think about is saving the galaxy on
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind or finding the nearest DOLE Whip!
Staying at
Disney's Art of Animation Resort is a fantastic choice! It definitely ranks as #1 on my daughter's list of favorite
Disney Resorts Collection hotels! She loves the immersive theming, the Big Blue Pool, and the unforgettable Little Mermaid Guest room that we stayed in. I think you're going to find that the Resort and each building within it are easily accessible by scooters, also known as ECVs (Electric Conveyance Vehicles).
If you're renting a scooter from the Walt Disney World Theme Parks you'll find that the scooters must remain within the Parks they were rented and cannot be taken back to your Resort. However, if you're renting from a third-party vendor, such as
Disney's Featured Provider, ScooterBug, you'll be able to take it wherever you need to!
To access the Theme Parks from Art of Animation you have a few options - one of which is an attraction in itself! You're lucky enough to be staying at a Resort that has on-property access to the
Disney Skyliner! This mode of transportation to
Disney's Hollywood Studios and
EPCOT gives you a bird's-eye view of some areas of Walt Disney World without ever having to transfer from your scooter. You can drive right into the Skyliner gondola and be whisked away to other Resort hotels or two Theme Parks. You can even fit other members of your party in the same gondola as you ride across the sky.
When planning to visit
Magic Kingdom or
Disney's Animal Kingdom, Disney Buses will be happy to safely transport you. Most Disney buses can accommodate two ECVs at a time in secure areas. Walt Disney World and its Cast Members do a wonderful job of
accommodating all of their Guests, including those with mobility disabilities. If you have any other questions feel free to come by and see us again or contact Disability Services at (407) 560-2547.
Enjoy your magical vacation!
