Can you still rent a tux onbthe cruise line?

Ahoy there, Tricia! Welcome aboard planDisney!

Ah, looks like you're just a few days away from your sail date - so I'll dispense with my usual extended anecdotes and get right down to it!

I remember the days of "Cruiseline Formalwear" rentals, but unfortunately, it seems as though the last few years were just too much for their business to weather, and they've since sailed into the sunset and are no longer available. At this time I’m unaware of any other onboard rental options that exist, but if you're looking to go all-out for a formal night on your upcoming Disney Cruise Line vacation, I recommend that you check with local Port Canaveral area tuxedo shops to see if any in the area would work with you.

No matter whether your plans are to dress to the nines or stick to cruise casual, Disney Cruise Line's dress code suggestions are like the pirate's code: more like guidelines than actual rules - which allows each Guest to celebrate the way that fits them best!

If your goal is to pack light, my advice would be for to go with a lightweight wool suit or blazer, to take your crew's attire from cruise casual and class it up to something a bit more formal! Tuxedos are in no way required for formal nights - and full disclosure, I usually only get dressed-up when my wife and I make reservations at Palo or Remy! I guess on some level there's just no competing with comfort - or with the ship's officers in their dress whites, either, haha!

I wish I'd had better news for you, Tricia, but thank you so much for sailing my way with your question! I'm certain that no matter what your crew decides to wear, you'll all look incredible with the smiles and laughter that are about to be on your faces as you make magical memories on this Disney Cruise Line vacation!

Oh, but if onboard formalwear rentals is something you'd like to see come back to the Disney Cruise Line experience, be sure to mention it on your comment card at the conclusion of your sailing! That type of feedback is always super helpful for the crew to receive!

If any other last-minute questions surface as you finish packing this week, you know where to find us here at planDisney!

    Fair winds and following seas!
