Can you rent a tent for The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort? - I want to camp for one day with my family just for fun... I feel at Disney World is the only place I can get my family to ever do this because it is a controlled environment...

Hi Natalie! The Fort Wilderness Resort is indeed the place to go for a fun family camping trip. You have the great four theme parks right at your doorstep and the peaceful atmosphere of Fort Wilderness to enjoy your stay.

This resort will rent tents for guests but it is best to call and make sure they will have them available. They used to only rent to groups but the demand was so big they have now allowed individual reservations to also rent them. What is really nice is that when you rent them through Disney they will also put them up on your site for you. That was especially great with the old tents that were more like a puzzle then a structure. The new tents made are much easier and much cooler too.

If you are planning to camp in the warmer months please know a fan or two might be good to pack. Each site will have electricity and water as well as a picnic table and grill. Keeping food cold in warm temps is always a trick so do your meal planning carefully. There will be comfort stations in each loop and they will have ice machines as well as laundry facilities. The comfort stations will have men's and women's sides with each having sinks, toilets, and excellent showers. These are kept really clean at all times and to us it is one of the best campsites in the country.

There is a Trading Post which will have the basic food items as well as some camping items for sale. And the best part of camping at Walt Disney World is the fact that you have the same privileges as all other resort guests. You are as cherished a guest as one in the Deluxe resorts.....you just choose to sleep in a different type of bed!

I hope you can convince your family to try a camping trip. It will certainly be a vacation of memories!
