Hi there, Aileen! Thanks so much for sending in your question to planDisney. Glad to meet ya!
It's no secret that a trip to Disneyland involves a lot of walking, and we answer questions all the time from visitors who have mobility challenges. Luckily Disneyland Resort has you covered! Wheelchair and
ECV scooter rentals are available outside the theme parks, just east of the Disneyland Park Main Entrance, but you can't reserve them in advance. It's best to arrive about 30 minutes before opening time (
8:00 AM), especially if it's a busy day. Once rented, you can take the scooter back and forth between Disney California Adventure Park and Disneyland Park and into the Downtown Disney District, but not outside Disney property.
Some attractions allow you to stay in your wheelchair or scooter for the duration of the ride, and no transfer is needed. Others may require a transfer from ECV to a provided wheelchair. Some require a complete transfer. The
Mobility Disabilities page on the Disneyland website has a complete listing of the Attraction Access Categories.
Aileen, one thing you can definitely use your scooter for is to travel to all the delicious snack locations on property. The Disney Parks Blog recently published a
Holiday Foodie Guide; I'm getting a Rumbly in my Tumbly just thinking about those Maple Beignets from the Mint Julep Bar!
