Hi there, Norma! Welcome to planDisney. It's always a pleasure to lend a helping hand to a fellow Michigander, AND a fellow
Disney Vacation Club Member! We're meant to be pals. I see that you're arriving at
Walt Disney World Resort in just a few days, so I will get right to the point to make sure you have the information you need.
The Most Magical Place on Earth is BIG, but with a little assist from a mobility aid, you can experience everything! There are ECVs (aka scooters) available for rental in the theme parks, water parks, and
Disney Springs. These are for day use only - meaning you can't rent a scooter for your entire trip - and are rented on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests pay a refundable deposit that is returned when you bring the ECV back to the rental counter, and if you're headed to another park, you will get a receipt that you can show at that next location to get one there (depending on availability). If you are leaving a theme park for a break and returning to that
same park later, the ECV can be held for you!
If you would prefer to have a guaranteed ECV throughout your stay, I recommend looking into a
rental through ScooterBug. They are a Disney Featured Provider for ECVs, wheelchairs, and strollers and will deliver your item directly to your resort. We used them a few years ago when one of my daughters had an injury before our vacation, and they were great to work with! The company is able to leave items with Bell Services, so you don't have to be present to receive your ECV. When it's time to head back to Michigan, just bring the ECV back to Bell Services and it will be picked up from the resort. Easy!
Norma, I also recommend taking a look at the various
services and accommodations for Guests with disabilities before you head south later this week. It's a great resource to help you understand what supports are available! If you experience any issues during your trip, just ask a Cast Member and they will be happy to help.
I am sure you're getting excited for your well-deserved Disney vacation! Thanks so much for coming to see us at planDisney, and please send any other questions our way if we can help. We're all EARS!
Stay Magical,
Susan
