We want to renew our Magic Keys at a lower tier but are worried about losing our existing plans prior to theexpiration date. If we downgrade, what is the effective date of the new Keys and will we lose our current reservations by renewing early?

Hey there, Vincent! Welcome to planDisney. We are happy to have you stop by to ask us your question!

Worry no more! When you are in your window to renew your Magic Key, you can renew by choosing any available Magic Key pass type currently available. You will continue to receive Magic Key benefits on your current Magic Key until it expires. Your new Magic Key will not activate until your current one expires. This means you can continue to book or use your theme park ticket reservations that you have on your current Magic Key. These will not disappear or be canceled due to your renewal.

I see that you will be heading to the parks soon! Halloween time has just begun at Disneyland Resort and you'll be sure to find lots of great things to do and see. There are two seasonal complimentary Magic Key PhotoPass opportunities available for the spooky season for Magic Key holders. The first is a Magic Shot photo opportunity near the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland Park featuring the Hatbox Ghost. The other is a Silly Symphony Skeleton Dance Magic Shot appropriately located under Silly Symphony Swings in Disney California Adventure Park.

Vincent, I hope your worries and frights have disappeared and you are all set to enjoy spooky season at Disneyland Resort! See you real soon!

Meet the Panelist: Carrie, California

Well hello there, friend! I'm Carrie, a work-from-home mom and military wife who currently calls sunny San Diego home. You'll find my family in the parks braving drops and coasters to work up our appetite to take as many snack breaks as we can. While Disneyland is our home away from home, we love trying to make a Walt Disney World Resort vacation happen at least once a year now too. All my friends know I'm the go-to for Disney advice, so I'm here to help you plan and experience the magic on your visit! Learn More About Carrie
