If I renew my magic key early, does it change my expiration date? Also, if I upgrade to a higher key, when do the benefits kick in(date of renewal or date of previous key expiration)?

A supercalifragilisticexpialidocious planDisney welcome to you, Alana. I'm so excited to hear that you will be renewing your Magic Key pass for another magic-filled year at the Disneyland Resort. Better yet, you're thinking about upgrading?! Well, that's fantastic and I'm thrilled to help with your question.

You will be able to renew your Magic Key pass up to 30 days before your current pass expires. You can renew the same pass you have, or upgrade to a Magic Key pass that is currently available for sale. Today, the only Magic Key pass available for sale is the Inspire Key (subject to change). Once you've completed your renewal, the renewed pass will automatically be activated on the day after the expiration date of the original pass. In short, renewing early will not change the expiration date of your new Magic Key pass.

If you decide to sprinkle in more magic and upgrade your Magic Key pass, the new benefits (unfortunately) won't kick in until your new pass is active. No worries though, Alana - not all is lost. Once you have your new upgraded Magic Key pass, you can immediately start making reservations for that pass starting from the first active day. That's a plus, so secure those theme park reservations, I say.

I love being a Magic Key holder and having the flexibility of dropping in for some magic (with a valid theme park reservation) when needed. Did you know there's a Portal for Magic Key holders in the Disneyland app? I always have a peek before or during my visit to see if there are any fun exclusive offers that I can take advantage of.

I highly recommend checking out the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival (if you haven't already) during your upcoming visit. I used my Magic Key discount for a Sip and Savor Pass to eat my way through the Festival Marketplaces. It was a delicious trip and I'll be heading back later this month for a second round (I've been dreaming of the Petite Burrata from Nuts About Cheese).

I hope this was helpful to you, Alana. If you find you have other questions, please come back and share them with us - we love to help. Until then, I wish you a most magical visit to the Happiest Place on Earth!
