I remember seeing something on the Magic the first time we cruised about a "tour of the ship" that included some behind the scenes. I unfortunately didn't see it until after it had happened. Do they do this on all ships, every trip?

    Ahoy, Christopher!

Hooray! Your April voyage on the Disney Fantasy will be here soon. Looks like you’ve already sailed on two other Disney Cruise Line ships--pretty soon you will have tried every one in the fleet! Then the hard part of deciding which one is your favorite begins.

The trivia geek in me rejoices to see this question because one of the best tours offered on all of the Disney ships is the Art of the Theme Show Tour. For adults 18 and up, this fascinating tour shares wonderful tidbits about the ship's design and artistic details. Even though the tour includes only public areas, in some ways it has the same vibe as a behind the scenes tour at Walt Disney World...only this time, it’s happening at sea. Guess that makes it a “behind the SEAS” tour!

On our Art of the Theme Ship tour, we learned the meaning behind the name Palo, how the carpet can provide clues as to where you are on the ship, and where the color "Monica Blue" can be found. Hopefully this piques your interest and you too will get to learn all kinds of fascinating facts on your next sailing.

Meanwhile, the Walking Ship Tour is open to Guests of all ages and typically offered on embarkation day. We really find this tour helpful when we are new to a Disney ship and need to get our bearings on where everything is.

These tours are available on all four Disney ships. To find times and locations, check the handy dandy Disney Cruise Line Navigator app on your phone or your Personal Navigator, the detailed newsletter delivered to your stateroom each day.

Christopher, after you’ve experienced one of these tours, I’d love to hEAR what you learned! And of course, please cruise back by the Disney Parks Moms Panel if you have more planning questions.

    Happy Sailing!
