Hiya Wesley! Welcome back to planDisney! It's great to have you stop by. Let's discuss your question and help you plan for your upcoming trip early next year.
The one item I do not leave home without when visiting the Walt Disney World Resort is my
MagicBand or MagicBand+. The moment I arrive on-site, it goes on my wrist and remains there until my departure. In addition to signaling the beginning of an incredible vacation, it also has plenty of practical uses. You can use them for entry into the theme parks and to scan into Lightning Lane entrances. If you're staying in a Disney Resorts hotel, you can utilize it as your resort room key and as payment at many dining and merchandise locations. The options are truly endless!
While I do love the new
MagicBand+ and the additional features that come along with it, the original MagicBands were great as well. They were a little bit less bulky than the MagicBand+ can be at times, which some Guests prefer to wear. While I can't confirm if you will find an original MagicBand on your upcoming trip, I was able to purchase one last year during a visit. I came across an Orange Bird themed MagicBand in the World Showcase at EPCOT. I also saw some being sold at various gift shops located at many Disney Resorts hotels. Keep in mind that there is no guarantee that you will have a similar experience to mine, especially since merchandise is constantly being swapped out at many locations each day. You're best bet to locate one will be once you arrive on-site. I haven't found any being sold at shopDisney.com recently or as a preorder option for Guests staying at a Disney Resorts hotel.
If you're unable to find exactly what you want, I would highly consider purchasing a MagicBand+. There are countless design options to choose from that highlight your favorite Disney characters, movies, theme parks, and much more. You'll have a hard time not being able to find one you like.
Wesley, I hope this information helps you plan for your stay!
