So I have some good news for you. As long as there is inventory available and you are staying at a
Disney Resorts Collection Hotel during your vacation, you can order the second generation of MagicBands through your
My Disney Experience account instead of a
MagicBand+. They are usually listed as either a MagicBand or a MagicBand 2. Simply log into your
My Disney Experience account, select "My MagicBands and Cards" under the My Disney Experience menu, click the blue "Get Started" button, and follow the prompts. As long as you complete this transaction 11 days or more before your arrival date, your MagicBands should be shipped to your United States mailing address in advance. I usually like to play it safe and order at least 14 days in advance. If you order any later, or there is a delay with your order, your MagicBand will be shipped to the front desk of your hotel to pick up when you arrive.
While the second generation of MagicBands will not interact with attractions or
nighttime spectaculars, they will still open your hotel room door, allow you to charge purchases back to your hotel, tap into the parks, and redeem any
Lightning Lanes you have purchased or Virtual Queues in which you may have enrolled. And speaking of
Virtual Queues, you are going to want to try to grab a spot for both
TRON Lightcycle / Run Presented by Enterprise in
Magic Kingdom Park and
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in
EPCOT. Both of these phenomenal attractions are available through the Virtual Queue system at the time of writing this answer!
