Hi there, Sara, and thanks for stopping by planDisney!
There is no better feeling than running magical miles through the Disney Parks. And it's even better when you're running with your family and friends. The runDisney experience starts way before the starting line, so it's great that you're already thinking ahead to registration day. Having a plan before the big day is definitely the way to go.
I've registered a couple of friends--and have been registered by someone else--throughout the years of participating in
runDisney events. I am more than happy to share what those processes were like. First, as Scar says, "Be prepared!" Spots for the races go super fast. These days, it's pretty rare for races to remain open past the first day, so don't delay and be ready to go.
Enter the runDisney site and enter the queue on Day 1, Hour 1. As soon as it's your turn to exit the queue and register, already have your and your family members' personal information. This information includes their full names, phone numbers, addresses, and preferred t-shirt sizes. The quicker you can enter this information, the better. I like to have the info saved on a digital sticky note or notes app so that I can quickly copy and paste it. When you get to the questions for proof of time, you can always add those after you register everyone. If you have registered for a runDisney race before, a lot of your information will automatically be entered as you go through the process.
Now that you can see what is needed for registration and can see the importance of moving quickly, it's totally up to you and your crew if you want to register together or not. Here are your options:
Option #1: Begin to register yourself for your desired distance and then add another racer when it prompts you to. You will definitely be able to register more than two people. Keep in mind that you are not officially registered until you have entered everyone's information, so if the race sells out once you're working on the next person, no one in the group will be registered for that sold-out distance.
Option #2: Everyone in your crew can enter the queue separately. Whoever gets into the runDisney system first can register themselves. Then, when they have completed that, they can easily re-enter the site (without waiting in the queue again) and register the next person for their desired distance. This would ensure that if one of you is really set on participating, and willing to go at it alone, your spot is secured.
With either option, any person who didn't register themselves can be sent a registration link so that they can manage their own after the registration is complete.
Sara, I hope that you all successfully sign up for an upcoming runDisney race! If you have any additional Disney vacation questions or need tips and tricks about runDisney, just
give us a holler here at planDisney. Magic always,
LeAndra
