I just registered for the W&D half marathon! I'm sooo excited! DH & I will both be in the race, so I'm not sure what to do with our 8yo? I know Kids Nite Out would babysit in-room, but is there a way he can go to the after-party to celebrate with u

    Hi, Sandra!

Congratulations on your decision to participate in the 2014 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon! This year marks the 5th anniversary of this nighttime race event, so I am sure it will be extra special.

Your son is more than welcome to join you at the Finish-Line Party, you'll just need to purchase him a separate party ticket. However, the Kids Nite Out program does not allow their certified childcare providers to travel with your child, so one of you will need to return to your resort after you've completed the race to retrieve your son. I know there are private nannying services such as SitterCity that may allow their providers to travel with your child, but none that are Disney-endorsed.

My suggestion would be to enjoy this time with your husband. With a 10:00pm start time for the very first corral of this half marathon event, most runners will not complete this race until well after midnight, making it a pretty late night/early morning for your son.

I hope this information helps, or at least gives you a starting point, Sandra. I know how difficult the logistics of traveling with children during a race weekend can be. Please do not hesitate to ask any additional questions you may have as you plan and prepare for the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend.

    Cheers!
