Hi Trisha, and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is such a joyful, supportive, and magical experience. With all the extra-special Disney details on the race courses, it's truly unforgettable.
I’m sorry to hear you didn’t have luck registering for the 10K race; it’s one of the most popular and often the very first to sell out. I was training for the 2019 Walt Disney World Marathon before I was sidelined by an injury, so I understand how you feel, and I hope I can provide some tips that lead you to those magical finish line high-fives.
Once a runDisney event is sold out, you have two possible avenues to explore. The first is to reach out to one of runDisney’s Travel Providers, as they may have race bibs for their clients. You can find a Travel Provider by visiting the
runDisney website, clicking on Plan Your Trip on the top right, and then Travel Providers. If you have a travel agent you have worked with in the past to plan Walt Disney World vacations, you may want to reach out and see if they have any race bibs or packages available.
The other option is to join a participating charity group. There is a list of participating charity groups on the 10K event web page, and you’re welcome to reach out to the charity group of your choice to learn about how you can fund raise and race for their cause. I did this a few years ago, and I found great meaning and joy in running for a cause close to my heart; it really motivated me to train hard and go the distance for my charity.
I’m sending you pixie-dusted good wishes that one of these options works out for you and that you find yourself on that 10K course! I’m chEARing for you, Trisha!
Wishing you a magical race weekend,
Robyn
