We are registered for the Jan 12 Disneyland race weekend. My son may have knee surgery before the race but we have already paid for him to participate. Can I push him in a wheelchair so that he can still experience the race?

    Hi there, Taya!

Welcome to planDisney. We're delighted you've run by with your wonderful question about the 2024 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend! Taya, like you, I'm very excited about the return of runDisney events to the West Coast. I'm registered for the Disneyland 10K and counting down the days until my race-cation! I'd be happy to help you and your son prepare for a wonder-filled race weekend.

Taya, I understand that you and your son are currently registered for an event during Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend, but he may not be able to complete the race on his own due to a potential medical procedure. I reached out to the friendly Cast Members at runDisney and was informed that push-rim racing wheelchairs, hand cycle chairs, and some other wheelchair types may be allowed on the race course on a case-by-case basis. I recommend contacting runDisney directly via the email inquiry form on the website for further assistance. The Cast Member I chatted with suggested you select "Other" as the Topic of your inquiry and provide as much detail as possible in the free text entry section.

You likely received an email from runDisney recently regarding the start and finish locations for the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend events. The Disneyland 5K starts in Disneyland Park, whereas the 10K and half marathon begin on Disney Way. Taya, the Cast Member I spoke with let me know that Guests will most likely be able to reach the start locations via the Downtown Disney District, but that, at this time, race transportation will not be provided to participants. Keep this in mind when choosing accommodations for race weekend!

Taya, I hope you've found this information helpful and I wish you and your son the very best with your training! If you have any additional planning questions, feel free to stop back by planDisney anytime. Enjoy every magical mile!

    Warm wishes,

    Lauren
