Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Kimberly!
Congratulations on registering for the 2015 Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon! I hope you are ready to save the world one mile at a time.
As a mom of three, I am well aware of the logistics it takes to plan a race-cation AND still enjoy all there is to see and do at Disney Parks without wearing myself out. My recommendation is to plan the "vacation" part of your trip for after the race, especially if you are hoping to run for time. I would plan for a Saturday arrival so you may attend the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo and then spend the rest of the evening relaxing poolside and enjoying dinner in the Downtown Disney District at
Catal Restaurant or
Naples Ristorante e Pizzeria.
For Sunday, I would run, rehydrate, relax. recover and then get moving again by hitting Disney's California Adventure Theme Park. It's important after completing an endurance event to keep moving to encourage the recovery process for your muscles, and this theme park is the perfect location. Spend Monday exploring Disneyland®, the larger of the two parks.
As far as training goes, I would encourage you to check out the
training plans created by Jeff Galloway, the official runDisney Training Consultant. These plans are complementary and available for beginner runners, or runners looking for time goals.
I hope this helps get you started, Kimberly! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me as you begin planning and preparing your visit to the Disneyland® Resort.
