If you register for a virtual RunDisney event, can you run the event prior to the date listed on the website? For example, the runDisney Springtime Surprise 2024 virtual 5k lists April 19, 2024 as the date. Can I run this race virtually before that date?

Hi Natalie, welcome back to planDisney!

I’m a firm believer that Disney makes every mile magical, whether you’re walking through the theme parks, or participating in a virtual runDisney event. In fact, my family just wrapped up the runDisney Virtual Series Celebrating Disney 100 Featuring Mickey Through the Years.

The Virtual Event Policies state that participants track their own times and completion is based on the honor system. Once you complete your run, you can visit your runDisney account dashboard and submit your finish time for a personalized certificate. Since I just finished the most recent virtual event, I went into my dashboard and tested your question. I was able to enter a date prior to the start of the virtual series as my finish results and it appeared on my race certificate.

I would like to mention that the Virtual Event Policies page also states that medals associated with your virtual series will be shipped at the conclusion of the event completion timeframe. In the past, I have received my virtual series medals before the end date of the completion time frame, but you may not receive your medals prior to the start date of the series.

Since we’re talking about virtual series, have you seen the runDisney Virtual 12Ks of Christmas Challenge? This virtual event takes place from December 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023. You’ll run three 4K races at home and receive some awesome swag along with four commemorative finisher medals that you can use as Christmas ornaments. Consider it training for your Springtime Surprise virtual races!

If you’re looking for other ways to train for your Springtime races, I recommend checking out the training programs offered on runDisney.com. You can find them for most distances and challenges offered by runDisney, and they’re a great way to stay on track to meet your goals.

I hope this was helpful, Natalie. As you can tell, I love talking about runDisney! If you have any future questions, runDisney or Walt Disney World related, I’m here for you at planDisney!

    Wishing you many magical miles,
    Kaitlin
