Bright suns Pisith!
I checked with Guest Relations about bringing your Darksaber to
Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite, a special after-hours ticketed event that is sold out for the year. They said the ultimate decision would be up to the security team. Plastic lightsabers are
permitted at Disneyland Resort, so long as they can't be mistaken for a weapon on this planet. If your blade meets those standards and the security team's, you're all clear, kid. My family will also attend this galactic event, and my Padawans will have their energy blades with them. With all the
Disney PhotoPass opportunities, you don't want to be without your most powerful accessory. I'll be working on my Soresu opening stance between now and then.
There's just one thing I'd like to know. How did you come to wield this ancient weapon?
Now about that costume. You are encouraged to be creative, but you'll still want to be comfortable and safe. Costume guidelines follow the standard set for
Special Events. For safety reasons your costume shouldn't contain anything sharp, masks can't be worn other than for medical purposes, and capes can't extend past the waist. Depending on how elaborate the armor is, you might be subject to additional security screening. We're planning on simplifying all our Mandalorian-themed costumes, so we're sure to stay comfortable and within the park guidelines. Mando's full mask is staying at home, for example--he's already an apostate, so it hardly matters. And I'm going to cut a few inches off his cape. He'll still be a skilled bounty hunter when I'm finished with the alterations. Remember that you'll have access to attractions, so you'll want to be able to ride in your costume, and you don't want to wear anything that isn't practical in a crowd.
We don't know all the details yet for this special event. Hopefully, we find out more soon! I'm excited to try the themed treats and spot Star Wars Characters, some of whom might be exclusive to the party.
May the Force be with you.
