Welcome, Connie!
Thanks for connecting with me directly regarding the logistics for children's car seats on a
Disney Cruise Line vacation. I’m happy to see you have an exciting voyage planned for this spring and am glad to share the details of how to bring your car seat with you.
Ground transportation is a wonderful option for personalized, reserved transport from either an airport or a partner hotel to the departure port (and back!). Car seats are not provided by Disney Cruise Line, and motorcoaches used in these operations adhere to all state and Federal regulations; currently there are no requirements for seatbelts or car seats on these commercial vehicles. You may bring your own car seat for use during another part of your vacation, but it must be stored in the luggage compartment below the motorcoach as there is no way to properly secure a car seat inside during the drive to the port. Car seats can be checked in with the rest of your luggage at the port, so please reserve a luggage tag for your car seat to be identified and delivered to your stateroom. There is no central storage onboard the Disney Cruise Line ships for your car seat, so once delivered it may be safely stowed in the closet or under the bed in your stateroom during your cruise. I've found our staterooms to have plenty of storage, and cleverly designed spaces for large pieces of luggage and car seats.
When planning any
Port Adventures, you can review the details on travel in the “Know Before You Go” section of each Port Adventure description. In my experience, I have not needed a car seat for any transportation in a port, but every Port Adventure has a minimum age and details on physical requirements or stroller accessibility for your review to support your planning and decision making.
I’m not sure from your sail date if you are on the
Eastern Caribbean or
Baja itinerary in March, so please send in additional questions to our great planDisney crew if you have any further questions on planning this special vacation. I hope this information helps manage expectations for your car seat, if it’s needed for your travel, and how to smoothly manage it on the ship.
Wishing you a magical cruise,
Amy
