Regarding rope drop, and what to to arrive at the parks. We’re staying off site, so no early entry. We will be driving and taking our own car. All 4 parks open at 9:00, what time should we arrive at the parking lots to park and arrive at the parks? TY

    Hiya Jenn!

Welcome back again to planDisney! I see that you are planning so thoroughly and well. Rope drop is one of the top secrets to a wonderful Park day and I'm always shocked how few utilize it.

This past December I stayed offsite for the first time and had to figure out the ideal time to get to the Parks. I advise arriving at the parking lots approximately 1 hour to no less than 40 minutes before the Park opens with additional time for Magic Kingdom Park. The reason is that Magic Kingdom Park has very distant parking and you will have to maneuver your way to the Ticket and Transportation Center and then take a monorail or ferryboat to the actual Park. I would add another 20 to 30 minutes to deal with this. So my suggestion is to be waiting on the parking lot entrance line approximately by 8 AM every morning except the day you go to Magic Kingdom Park when it should be about 7:30 AM if the Park opening times are 9 AM. We are a family of early risers-especially when we visit Walt Disney World- so this is not a problem for me and I like any time I can get to be able to calmly walk down Main Street, U.S.A. I also find that with my two little ones, I appreciate the extra time for their slower walking speed and the inevitable morning potty breaks.

For Magic Kingdom Park day I also recommend you maneuver yourself to rope drop Adventureland or Liberty Square as the Early Park Entry people are already taking over Tomorrowland and Fantasyland. However, I did something different on my last trip. I did rope drop but did it a bit more leisurely. I shopped for some new clothing, watched "Let the Magic Begin", mobile ordered a Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich from Sleepy Hollow, and rode Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin all before 10 AM. We had Genie+ so the pressure was slightly lifted as we just headed to our first Lightning Lane booking happy and filled with magic and chocolatey waffles. I arrived early and had a relaxing day and I would definitely do it again. I hope you enjoy every minute and don't feel stressed to do it all. Sometimes the magic of rope drop is not getting to ride every ride but enjoying a less crowded Park for a few hours and getting started sooner on a magical day.

I hope this helps and you have a wonderful time. Let me know if you have any more questions!

    Happy Planning!
