Hiya, Amy!
I am so glad you stopped by with your question about booking Port Adventures! Hands down, these experiences are some of my favorite memories from our Disney cruises. We still talk about our kayaking adventure during our Disney Wonder Alaskan cruise. Some of our most picturesque photos were taken that day featuring the stunning Alaskan landscape. And my son’s highlight was doing the polar bear plunge afterwards in the 40 degree water!
One of the toughest decisions while cruising is deciding among the various
Disney Cruise Line Port Adventures. I always seem to find multiple ones that are appealing for my family. Maybe I should just take the “eeny-meeny-miny-moe” approach!
I’m not sure what excursion you’ve got planned, but here’s the situation: only those signed up to do the excursion can travel along. Built into the cost of the Port Adventure is the transportation, so anyone traveling would have to have signed up for the excursion. And if the excursion has age limits on the activity, then it's anticipated that kids those ages are too young to participate.
Keep in mind though that the Youth Clubs are phenomenal, and you are totally able to leave your kids in
Disney's Oceaneer Club and
Disney's Oceaneer Lab as you become landlubbers for the day on your Port Adventure. In fact, there have been times my two dismissed me and told me to come back later because they were playing and not ready to leave!
While Youth Club hours vary each day, they will be available for you to check in your kiddos before your scheduled excursion meeting time. My suggestion: let both the Youth Counselors and your kids know your plans and your anticipated return time. Gone during lunchtime? No problem! Kids will be fed lunch during lunchtime in the Youth Clubs. And if you are planning on utilizing the
“it’s a small world” nursery, make sure you reserve your little one’s spot when your
advance booking window opens.
Bon voyage and happy sailing!
