Regarding making dining reservations, I understand that you cannot reserve more than 180 days in advance, but once that date hits, is there a certain time of day to call? Do they start taking reservations at midnight or 8 a.m. or how to I go about it? Thx!

    Hi Alyssa,

As you know, you can make dining reservations 180 days in advance.  If you are staying at a Disney resort, that 180 days is - 180 days from your check-in day.

Online reservations begin at 6:00 a.m. EST. If you prefer to call and speak directly with Disney's Dining Reservations department at (407)939-3463, you'll have to wait until 7:00 a.m. EST.  The reservations department is open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. EST.  Here are a few tips to help you get through this part of the planning process:

    • Before your 180 day mark, familiarize yourself with Disney restaurants.  Have an idea of where you want to dine and on what days.  This doesn't have to be specific, but you probably won't want to make a breakfast reservation at Crystal Palace and a dinner reservation at a restaurant in Epcot unless you have a Park Hopper Pass.
    • If you don't get what you want - keep trying.  People make and cancel reservations all of the time.
    • If all else fails, try a new restaurant.  Some of our best dining experiences have been at restaurants that were our 2nd or 3rd choices.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
