Ahoy there, Susanna!
Welcome back to planDisney! One week to go until your first Disney cruise and a stay at your Disney Vacation Club home resort? That’s an exciting combo, like getting a scoop of each of your favorite ice creams instead of just one. And if my compass is pointing in the right direction and you’re heading to
the beautiful Disney Treasure, you’re about to step into a ship that feels like it was inspired by adventure and hidden wonders around every corner.
When it comes to setting up an account for your 14-year-old (or any Guest age 13 to 17), you’re definitely on the right track. You can head over to the
Disney Cruise Line website and create their own account using their information. I actually just did this recently for our 13-year-old, and now she can log into the website and explore in more of a “view only” style setup using her own account. It was a fun way to let her feel involved in the planning and start counting down the days with us.
Now for the not-so-magical news that often causes that “blocked” feeling you mentioned. Guests 17 and under cannot currently log into their account through the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app while at home. That part trips up a lot of families, so you’re definitely not alone there. Even though they can’t log in ahead of time through the app, you’ll still want to have the Navigator app downloaded and ready on her phone before embarkation day.
Once you arrive at the cruise terminal and
connect to the ship’s Wi-Fi, that’s when the magic unlocks. Your 14-year-old can open the Navigator app and enter her name, birthdate, and stateroom number. From there, she’ll be able to view daily activities, use the onboard chat feature to stay in touch with family members, and keep track of all the fun happening around the ship. It’s a great way to give teens a little independence while still keeping everyone connected.
If you happen to travel with anyone age 12 and under who will be using a mobile device, an adult in their stateroom will need to grant them access once connected to the ship’s Wi-Fi before they can use the Navigator app features onboard. This extra step helps keep younger sailors safe while still letting them join in on the fun of messaging family members or checking what activities are coming up next.
I hope this helps you
get everything squared away so your daughter is ready to jump into the fun right alongside the rest of the crew. With just a week to go, you’re getting very close to that moment when vacation mode officially kicks in.
Sea ya real soon as springtime magic carries us from one adventure to the next,
Dustin
