Are refurbishments in progress/finished in Kidani Village? What about OKW? Mainly interested in new murphy bed vs old pull out couch bed.

Hiya, Jaynee! Welcome back to planDisney!

In my opinion, the refurbishments that have been going on across Walt Disney World Resort in recent years have been so great! I completely agree with you, Jaynee. My family and I are also big fans of the Murphy beds that have been consistently added to the Guest rooms, studios, and villas across the Disney Resorts Collection hotels.

To answer your questions, Jaynee, the Guest rooms at Kidani Village at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge have been undergoing refurbishment since October 2025, and as of this writing, work is expected to be complete in May 2026. The resort has said that Guests may see or hear construction work in the area, but most amenities have remained available during the refurbishment. I’m happy to say that the newly refurbished Guest rooms do feature the beloved Murphy beds! Depending on how soon you are hoping to travel, work may already be complete at Kidani Village.

Over at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, room refurbishments have yet to begin. As of this writing, we don’t have a projected start date for the Guest room refurbishment specifically. What we do know is that through late April 2026, the South Point Pool and Spa, BBQ area, and playground at Disney’s Old Key West Resort will be closed for routine maintenance. Additionally, from March 16 through early June, Hospitality House at Disney’s Old Key West Resort will undergo exterior maintenance work.

The resort pages on the Walt Disney World Resort website are routinely updated with refurbishment timelines. You can find these on the main page of the affected resorts, highlighted in orange.

I hope this answers your questions, Jaynee! If you happen to book a stay at Kidani Village, I highly recommend dining at Sanaa! The Indian-style Bread Service is out of this world! You’ll also get wonderful views of the animals that live on the Sunset Savanna at the resort. It’s hard to beat that!

If you have any other questions as you continue to plan your visit, please don’t hesitate to come back and see us here at planDisney. My fellow panelists and I are always happy to help!

    Happy planning!
