Hi Elcie!
So glad that you steered your ship in the direction of planDisney! It’s always a good day when I can encourage Guests to book a Disney vacation, whether it be at Walt Disney World, Disneyland, or on my beloved Disney Cruise Line.
I love that you already had plans to spend some theme park time at the Most Magical Place of Earth. Here’s the deal: the current rule is that
theme park tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable. I’m assuming by the way that you worded this question that you have not used any days on these tickets. This matters because theme park tickets purchased after 2004 expire 14 days
after their first use. So if you haven’t used these theme park tickets, you can leave these tickets in your
My Disney Experience account to be used at a future date. Meanwhile, if you have previously purchased theme park tickets with the No Expiration Option, your tickets will still be honored.)
I certainly WISH that you could convert the tickets to go towards a voyage with Captain Mickey, but that just isn’t shipshape. Here are a few money saving tips to make those Disney dollars stretch as far as possible:
First, check the
Special Offers page; you never know when a particular itinerary will have a discounted rate. Second, you could also ask for a “Guaranteed” stateroom which means that you do not get to specifically choose your specific stateroom, but instead you select a
category of staterooms. Disney Cruise Line will then assign your stateroom at a later date. So, for example, you could select a “Guaranteed Oceanview Stateroom” rate for one of your staterooms, and you will be guaranteed at least to have an oceanview stateroom assigned to you when your sail date gets closer. Finally, buy Disney gift cards in the months leading up to your cruise. Then combine the gift card bundle you have accumulated onto one main card (up to $1000) on the
Disney Gift Card website. It really helps to spread out the purchases throughout the year!
Hopefully this has you totally pumped up to go on a Disney cruise. My fellow panelists and I are here to help if you have more planning questions, so ask away. And soon, I hope you will also be able to say, "Anchors Aweigh."
SEA ya real soon!
