Greetings and welcome to planDisney, Melinda. It's still the most wonderful time of the year at the Disneyland Resort. So let's talk about one of the most popular, can't-be-missed treats of the season.
The Mickey Gingerbread cookie is one of the treats that I most look forward to during the year. There are only a few more days until the
Holidays at the Disneyland Resort come to an end and this delectable and adorable treat disappears until we celebrate the holidays again later this year. It sounds like you were able to secure some for yourself and are looking to prolong the magic and deliciousness for as long as possible (I don't blame you.).
I've purchased other cookies from the
Grand Californian Great Hall Cart and have seen some "Best By" dates that are usually between 7-12 days from the time of purchase. I will usually keep these on my kitchen counter to eat within this time frame and any that don't get eaten will go into the freezer for safekeeping. I have a vacuum sealer to lock in as much freshness as possible and highly recommend this process if you happen to have one. The longest they have lasted in my freezer is about three months. A quick internet search revealed that homemade cookies can be stored in the freezer for anywhere between 3-12 months. Honestly, three months is about as long as I can resist without breaking into them sooner.
Though, I must say, the absolute best way to enjoy these tasty treats is as soon as possible. This is my favorite way to enjoy them. And who knows, we saw these
beauties available for a limited time last year in June when we were Halfway to the Holidays. Perhaps if we're lucky, this just might happen again this year to satisfy our mid-year cravings.
Melinda, I hope this has been helpful. After all, I do love talking about Disney eats and treats. If you find yourself with any other questions gnawing at you (or if you need someone to taste test something for you), come back to see us - even
feel free to ask me directly. Until then, happy eating!
