Are the refillable mugs only for soda, coffee &tea, traveling with dining plan next year with a 5 year old and I don't feel any of these drinks r ok for a 5 year old to have.

    Hi Naomi,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I’m so happy to hear you’re planning a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort.

A Resort Refillable Mug is included in the Disney Dining Plans for all Guests ages 3 and up. Those mugs can be refilled at the beverage islands at resort hotel Quick-Service locations, and options usually include coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and selections from the soda fountain. I understand your concern about those options for your 5-year-old, and can tell you that my Mouseketeers usually fill theirs with either hot chocolate, water, or the non-caffeinated options in the soda fountain. Those options can vary depending on the machine, but they will often choose lemonade or Powerade.

Here’s the good news: your Disney Dining Plan entitlements include a beverage with each meal, so if you’d prefer your child to drink milk, juice, or water, those options are available. At a Table-Service meal, there will be several beverage options on the menu, and at any food court style Quick Service location (typically found at the resorts), there will be a refrigerator with lots of beverage options. Depending on where you dine, there might even be specialty beverages like milkshakes or smoothies available – on my family’s stay last year at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, my son drank several green smoothies at the Landscape of Flavors food court.

Naomi, you can always look for the Disney Check on menu items if you’re looking for healthier choices for your family. The nutritionists at Walt Disney World work hard to make nutrition information available so it’s easy to make good choices while on your holiday. In fact, if Rapunzel’s horse Maximus ate an apple a day, it would take him 3,288 years to eat all of the apples consumed annually at Walt Disney World Resort! You’re always welcome to check with a Cast Member if you have questions about your options or need help finding something. They want your vacation to be magical!

Have so much fun counting down to your Walt Disney World vacation next year! As you do your planning and Disney dreaming, please come back and see us if we can help in any way.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
