How does the refillable mug work? Can I use anywhere in WDW outside of the theme parks? Can I get refillable juice, soda, and coffee?

    Hiya Harry!

Welcome to planDisney! Every time I open my kitchen cabinets I find myself smiling, as they are lined with various Resort Refillable mugs from my past trips to Walt Disney World Resort. Yes, they threaten to fall upon my head as there are just a lot of them but I do love them.

Resort Refillable Mugs have become even better in the last year and now allow guests to get refills at any self-service beverage island at any Disney Resort Hotel. This means that you can enjoy refills at the Disney Resort you are staying in or at any you wish to visit. The main part of the beverage island includes various Coca-Cola products including Diet Coke and Powerade. If you are lucky to be staying at one of the Disney Resort Hotels with a Coke Freestyle machine then the beverage options increase dramatically. (I'm obsessed with the Minute Maid Aguas Frescas.) You also have access to coffee and tea. Orange juice and milk are not included as it is sold in individual containers in the refrigerators. This past weekend I had to use creamer to make my tea at Disney's All-Star Music Resort and while I consider it blasphemy it served me well enough.

The mug has a chip in it that is read by the beverage station to get it to work. Once you fill up your mug there is a required "break" of a few minutes before you can fill it up again. Be mindful of this if you order anything spicy. I love to drink tea in the morning and then clean it out to fill it up with ice to take into the Parks. These lids do leak a little so make sure to keep it upright. I also like to label them with a permanent marker as there are limited color variations and mixing up drinks can be gross. Also, if I can get at least five refills in my mug then I know I have made a good value. (I am all about a good value.)

I hope this helps and you stay hydrated!

    Happy Planning!
