    What is red shirt day?

Hello Lynn and welcome to planDisney!  We're so happy to see you here today, and thank you for bringing us such an interesting question.

On your behalf, I've done a little research into Red Shirt Day and am more than happy to share some of my initial findings with you.  I believe the unofficial Red Shirt Day is an annual Pride event that takes place each yEAR on the first Saturday in June within the Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort

Red Shirt Day began back in 1991 as a social gathering within the enchantment of the Magic Kingdom Park of some 30 or so like-minded souls or indeed, kindred spirits.  It's my understanding (according to my Google research) that Red Shirt Day has now become one of the longest-running and most iconic global events in LGBTQ+ history!

Lynn if you would like to know more about how to best enjoy the Red Shirt Day unofficial social event (which is taking place this coming Saturday!) or indeed any other unofficial Pride events happening in and around Orlando, then I can highly recommend performing a simple Google search for Orlando Red Shirt Day 2021.

I also thought you may wish to take a peek at all the ways in which you can Gear Up For Pride Month with A Colorful Array of Disney Pride Products as featured in this recent and oh-so-colourful rainbow-inspired Disney Parks Blog article!  I'm also delighted to share that the Walt Disney Company donates funds from the Pride Collection as part of its ongoing commitment to organizations around the world that support LGBTQ+ communities.

If you should have any further questions about visiting the magic and wonder of Walt Disney World Resort, then please do pop back to planDisney to ask me another question.  I'm always more than happy to help where I can!

Wear your red shirt with pride and have a great Disney day! ~ Jane
