Do you have any recommendations for after we see the parade at 6:30pm? Any restaurants you would you recommend for a quick bite & what other rides/areas should we explore outside of fantasyland/toontown before fireworks? Thanks for your help!

    Hi Jennifer!

Welcome back! I was so excited to see your question. Summer evenings in the parks are so magical! We love taking a break in the heat of the afternoon so that we're fresh and ready to enjoy the lights and sounds you'll only find at Disneyland Resort after dark.

One of my favorite places to eat in the evening is actually two neighboring spots: Bengal Barbecue and The Tropical Hideaway. If your kids are less adventurous eaters (like mine) you can easily grab them some kid-friendly chicken strips and fries from the nearby Stage Door Cafe. This is where my husband and I usually divide and conquer, and use mobile ordering in the Disneyland Mobile App. We'll mobile order chicken strips for the kids from Stage Door Cafe and then walk over to The Tropical Hideaway to grab a table. One of us stays there with the kids while the other parent picks up our mobile order from Bengal Barbecue (you can have more than one mobile order going at the same time). When everyone is ready for dessert we have a parent jump in line at The Tropical Hideaway to grab DOLE Whip for everyone!

When you're finished eating you'll be very close to one of my favorite evening attractions, the Jungle Cruise! I find that evenings are often a good time to catch favorites like Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion with shorter (or at least cooler) waits. Once you're done exploring New Orleans Square I would catch the Disneyland Railroad and ride over to Tomorrowland!

Tomorrowland has some great food options, too, if the Adventureland options don't sound good to you. We love Alien Pizza Planet (you can mobile order here as well), the Count Down Chicken Fusilli is delicious! The evening is absolutely the best time to take little ones for a drive on Autopia, a spin on the Astro Orbiter, and a dive on the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage.

I know it's likely that you will have explored Fantasyland already, but I have to say that my very favorite nighttime attraction is the Storybook Land Canal Boats. When the sun goes down the tiny castles and villages are lit up in the most magical ways! You'll also find that this attraction is where some of the most famous park residents like to settle in for the night...the ducks that call Disneyland home are often snoozing among the perfectly manicured fairytale villages! I would also make sure you at least catch a glimpse of "it's a small world" at night as well, it is just SO beautiful.

You also mentioned one of my favorite things...fireworks! Wondrous Journeys is stunning, I hope you will love it. If your family still has some energy left I would try to squeeze in an extra ride or two after the fireworks, because many guests will head out and lines will be shorter. Riding Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a great way to end the day!

I hope some of these ideas help you, Jennifer! If you have more questions you know where to find me!

    Keep moving forward!
