What recommendations do you have for doing Disneyworld next week in the extreme heat? We’re a family of 4, staying at Animal Kingdom.

    Hi Irene,

    Welcome to planDisney!

Your question gave me a good chuckle because I just got back from Walt Disney World Resort and we stayed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, too! I can confirm that the days can get pretty steaming hot, especially midday and especially if there’s no midday rain to cool things off.

Here’s what we did: we would head to the Theme Parks early to enjoy as many of the attractions as possible before the heat and crowds got to be too intense. We would then leave the Park we were visiting no later than 1:00 PM in order to head back to our Resort. We would then spend the rest of the afternoon at the pool or just doing some activities at the Resort before heading back to the Parks or Disney Springs for dinner at around 6:00 PM. After dinner, we would continue playing in the Parks until they closed for the day.

The heat was much more bearable with a midday break, so I can’t stress that part enough! It may feel like you’re “missing out” on some Theme Park time but getting out of the heat at that time allowed us to have better mornings and evenings in the Parks. Also, we did purchase Disney Genie+ Service every day in order to access Lightning Lane Entrances. This allowed us to get the most out of our Park time. Remember that you can “stack” your selections for later in the day, which really will allow you to get the most out of your Disney Day!

And my final tip… it’s amazing how much Frozen Mickey Bars, Dole Whips and Frozen Lemonades really help cool things down, too! Vacation treats, for the win!!

Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.

    Have a Magical Day,
