Is there a recommendation to get my son’s first haircut around Disneyland?

Hi there, Julia—welcome to planDisney! What a truly magical idea to commemorate your little one's very first haircut at the Happiest Place on Earth! That's a memory you'd surely cherish forever.

While the musical stylings on Main Street, U.S.A. are top-notch, you won't currently find a barbershop tucked away inside either Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park offering haircuts for aspiring Mouseketeers. Your idea isn't unheard of in the world of Disney, though! Over on the other coast, the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida features the delightful Harmony Barber Shop, beloved for giving little ones their very first trim—complete with special commemorative Mickey ears! It's a charming experience, just located in a different castle's kingdom. So, while it's not an option at Disneyland, it's great that you were thinking along those magical lines!

Here on the West Coast, it's worth noting that the Tenaya Stone Spa at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa does offer salon services, including haircuts for adults and children. But due to this tranquil environment and the nature of the services, it's generally recommended that children be at least 5 years old for haircuts there.

But don't you worry, Julia! Disneyland Resort offers so many other ways to celebrate special milestones and create unforgettable “firsts”. For a different kind of dazzling transformation, you may consider a visit to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disneyland Park! While haircuts aren't part of their royal services, aspiring young heroes can be magically transformed into gallant knights! Do keep in mind that young participants need to be at least 3 years old for these enchanting experiences, so depending on when that first haircut milestone happens, this might be a perfect adventure for this visit or perhaps one to look forward to in the future!

Even if the timing for the Boutique isn't quite right, think of all the other amazing firsts waiting for your little one:

First Pair of Ears: What's a visit without iconic Mickey Mouse ears? You can even get your son’s name embroidered on the back at locations like The Mad Hatter for a truly personalized keepsake.

First Character Hug: Imagine your son's joy of meeting Mickey Mouse or Winnie the Pooh for the very first time! Don’t forget to capture that hug—it's pure magic!

First Fantasyland Voyage: Gently floating through "it's a small world" or soaring on Dumbo the Flying Elephant are classic first rides perfect for little ones.

A "1st Visit!" Button: Be sure to stop by City Hall in Disneyland Park or the Chamber of Commerce in Disney California Adventure Park to request a "1st Visit!" button. It's a wonderful souvenir to wear at the park and take home with you!

First Disney Treat: Sharing a first taste of an iconic Disneyland churro or a Mickey-shaped pretzel can be a delightful moment.

So, while that first haircut might be back home, Julia, your son’s first Disneyland adventure can still be brimming with wonder, laughter, and precious moments you'll always remember. Wishing you and your little one a visit sprinkled with extra pixie dust and unforgettable memories!
