I got a recommendation about the "pirates of the Caribbean" restaurant, but I do not seem to find it. What is the name of it? What are all dinning options?

Hi there, Paola! Welcome back to planDisney. It’s great to hear from you again! I see that you’re well underway with planning that first visit with your family. I’d love to continue helping you explore various dining options around the parks!

The restaurant that you’re referring to is called Blue Bayou! This place is so iconic and steeped in Disney history that it’s a must-visit to me. I’m currently looking at the menu now, and the rush of memories from the times I’ve dined here, in addition to the food, has my tummy rumbling! This restaurant in particular is categorized as Special and Unique Dining because it is situated within the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. You’ll be glad to hear that this ride doesn’t have any height restrictions, so your entire family can enjoy it together. It’s always fun to ride it and see the restaurant from afar, but as a diner at Blue Bayou, it’s such a different perspective watching the boats pass by!

The menu takes Cajun-Creole inspiration from its location in New Orleans Square, with dishes like gumbo, Monte Cristo, and roasted chicken adorned with a delicious Creole sauce. They also have a great kids menu with a “you pick” style featuring prime rib, pasta, and a variety of sides to choose from!

Given that it’ll be your first visit with your children, I highly recommend reserving a restaurant that offers character dining for one of your meals! I remember my son’s first character dining experience at Plaza Inn with Minnie and her friends, and it was nothing short of magical. The buffet style allowed my husband and me to quickly grab things for ourselves to eat, including my son’s very first Mickey waffle! While one of us stayed at the table, we were constantly greeted by characters who were so sweet and kind, especially knowing he was wearing his “My First Visit” button that we picked up at City Hall upon entering Disneyland. We’ve always made it a point to reserve at least one character dining meal on each of our visits. Every time, my son’s reactions get even better! Now that he’s talking, he’s really able to interact with them. Bonus points for this restaurant being located right next to the Baby Care Center, where we were able to nurse and do quick diaper changes in a quiet environment away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds.

Paola, thank you so much for visiting planDisney! I hope this clarifies Blue Bayou for you and allows you to continue planning your family’s first visit together. As always, if you have any questions before your upcoming trip, planDisney is always here for you!
